Art supplies for foster kids at Helping Hand Home
Helping Hand Home’s Residential Treatment Program provides comprehensive care for children experiencing emotional and behavioral problems so severe that they are unable to remain safe in a home setting. They provide a safe haven for children healing from physical, emotional and sexual abuse, neglect or abandonment.
Today we delivered 300 Share Art Heal art kits to Helping Hand Home in Austin. Origami, Super Hero Coloring Cards and Silver Lining Bracelet kits for everyone! We deliver our art kits to Helping Hand Home foe Children throughout the year.
Watch this video from Reshma Kirapalani of the Austin American-Statesman about Grace Kelsoe, a case manager at Helping Hand Home for Children. Kelsoe says that while the job is challenging, foster care and adoption parents who provide safe homes for children give her hope.
Helping Hand Home is the oldest continuously operating residential childcare agency in Travis County and a priceless resource kept strong and viable through community support. In 2017 Helping Hand Home housed 65 children. The average stay for a child is 533 days. 92% of the children served were restored to a family setting last year.
