I was organized, art projects were planned, art supplies purchased and then COVID-19 stopped the whole world. All Share Art Heal events for the first half of 2020 were cancelled or postponed to an unknown future date. I stopped our monthly deliveries of art kits, our art kit assembly events were cancelled, Dell Children's Medical Center's Art of Giving fundraiser has been postponed and the Austin Police Department's Summer Youth Leadership Program, my biggest event of the year was put on pause as I hunkered down at home like all of us - all but the essential workers. Thank you essential workers, first responders, health workers, delivery people, cleaning crews, grocery workers, my mailperson and everyone who when to work during the pandemic.
I always say art heals. It does. Art heals. That's what Share Art Heal is about. So I put my money where my mouth is and started painting on my first day of quarantine. I painted again the second day and by day three I knew I'd do one painting each day in quarantine. I will have an exhibit of this project , probably in September and portion will go to support local non profits and organizations in Austin. Here are the first 46 days paintings. I'm still painting live on Facebook at 1:00 and 3:00 cst every day I until decide to end my quarantine. facebook.com/jetbaker
I'm still in quarantine but Texas is starting to reopen today. Eventually we all will adjust to life in the times of COVID-19. I'm ready to go when the Share Art Heal community partners are ready to make art. Be safe and happy everyone.
